The journey to a healthier, happier you!
Hi, I’m Katie. Personal Trainer, but probably best known as “Katietrainalot”.
Firstly, the name ‘Katietrainalot’ came about after an appearance on the TV show Total Wipe Out. After proclaiming; “I train 7 times a week, the Total Wipe Course better watch out as I’m going to smash it right up”, I was defeated by the sucker punch and big red balls.
I was known on the TV show as ‘Katietrainalot’ and ever since it aired, my friends, clients and the people of Swansea to continue to address me as such and to be honest I don’t mind at all as I do think I train a lot!
From a very young age I have always been involved in sport competing at national level in gymnastics and swimming. Whilst undertaking a master’s degree course at University I decided to take up kick boxing and running to keep my body active as well as my mind. After 3 years I attained my black belt and began instructing at my local club.
It was my fellow kick boxing instructor and my own personal trainer who suggested that I become a personal trainer. He saw my passion for sport and living a healthy lifestyle and thought I would be perfect at training and motivating clients to feel the same. To this day I can’t thank him enough, I trained as a personal trainer and got a job working in the same studio as him, I’ve loved every minute of working as a PT and can’t imagine doing anything else.
Over the last few years I’ve competed in many multi sports events up and down the country, from obstacle races to full blown marathons. I needed something tougher and longer to challenge me both mentally and physically, something to train hard for and push myself to the limit. It was at this time I watched a TV program called Ironman and I thought….
“That’s it, that’s my next challenge” only a 2.5 mile swim, 112 mile bike and 26 mile run in under 18 hours, the challenge was on!
I basically borrowed a friend’s road bike and had to learn to have ride from scratch, realising that cycling 112 miles within 8 hours was not going to be an easy task I joined a local Triathlon team and started training with them. It was an amazing learning experience, one with many injuries, aches and pains but I wouldn’t change it for the world.
I’ve fallen off my bike now too many times to remember, spent hours sat in ice baths and using foam rollers to stretch out my tired legs. The journey to realise my dream was tough but whenever I felt like quitting I kept saying to myself “pain my last a minute, a day, a week or a year but quitting lasts a lifetime” a mantra which I’ve stuck to every day since.
After a year and a half of hard training every day I successfully completed Ironman UK in well under the time limit. It was the most exhilarating experience of my life crossing the finish line and being called an Ironman, I’ve since sign up to do another as well as competing in Cross Country events as part of a South Wales team.
I loved Triathlon so much I’ve now embarked on a Triathlon coaching course and take swim and track sessions for my local club. As well as challenging myself at endurance events I’ve always been passionate weight user and have been interested in female body building. As a new challenge I’ve now entered a Women’s Bikini and Fitness competition and am looking forward to competing in the coming months and hoping not fall off stage in the ridiculously high heels one has to wear!
So that’s me, I’m passionate about sport, take up new challenges and push my limits setting myself new goals and targets one day at a time. There’s no greater feeling than when you set yourself a goal and succeed in achieving it through hard work and dedication. I am here to take you on a transformation, utilising my knowledge and skills to enable you to reach yours.
Whether it’s a goal to lose weight, to enter your first race or improve your health and well being I am here to work with you and support you every step of the way. You need to step out of your comfort zone and make changes today to get you on a road to a happier, healthier you.
Lots of Love,
